|
Hindus have been following panchang for about five thousand years. Panchang is the series of list which asserts predicaments, malasies, weather and personal fortune. Though the people and Indian Government follow the Gregorian calendar, panchang still implies life for Hindus in the proximity of God and culture. It emulates the spiritual expression in terms of lunar months. The new moon i.e. the Amavasya is the beginning of a new month. And the Full moon (Purnima) demarcates the end of Shuklapaksha. Shuklapaksha is the first fortnight of the full moon and Krishnapaksha is the dark half fortnight of the month during which the moon fades. Panchang consists of four weeks of seven days showing the constellation of stars and planets. Thus for Hindus, the panchang is a way divine of understanding God and their religion.
